Where It All Started

Our Story.

After completing more than 500 executive searches for private equity-owned companies, founders Lindsay Guzowski and Rob Huxtable observed a clear pain point in the market. Nearly every private equity firm utilized an assessment tool but very few of these firms had much confidence in the assessment results. Why? Because these assessment tools lacked three elements that private equity wanted:

a.) quantified results,
b.) a focus on the behaviors that matter most in PE, and
c.) a configurable profile for each fund’s governance model.

As a result, we created The Crucible, the only performance research tool built for private equity. Lindsay and Rob combined their expertise and relationships in the private equity talent space, leveraged Lindsay’s background in quantitative sociology, and partnered with experts in behavioral science and assessments to create The Crucible.

Today, The Crucible is utilized by several leading private equity firms to help strengthen and improve their operating and portfolio company teams. These clients leverage pinpoint insights into how an individual is likely to perform under the weight of a PE-backed mandate, and how that individual’s profile fits their specific governance model.

Our premise: the PE talent game is not a contest of governance models. It’s a contest of which funds best select executives who are a match for their specific approach to value creation. This is why the Crucible was created.
